This last weekend we had gone camping. It wasnt so bad until Saturday night. There we were fixing and eatting our camp fire pizza and the neighbor across the way says "There is a storm coming with 60 mph winds" and there we sat still eatting. Then as soon as some of our extra people were leaving it started to sprinkle and the wind picks up. Now we are scrabbling to get the chairs, strollers and the toys picked up and put away. Then I had to help Matthew put the awning up. I've never helped with the awning let alone to do it in the dark, but it got up and out of the way. I only broke a fingernail. oh well. Just when I thought I had everything picked up, I remembered the life vest and towels hanging on the boat, so I quickly grab them. I was a little concerned about the fire spitting sparks towards my table cloth, but I thought its damp it wont hurt it too bad. I was right. The older kids did great; they were asleep. Makenna Grace had never gone to sleep, but she didnt care. Oh to be oblivious to what going on.
So to the point of my story is this. For those of you who would remember. Camping at Lynn Valley Lake in the summer. We always had a tent. First a crappy canvas tent that leaked all the time no matter how many cans of spray my poor dad put on it. The stupid thing would leak from Lisa touching the side, (not on purpose) but I was the only one with a slick sleeping bag and had to give it up to Lisa and Brandon because they were soaked. Then we up graded to a more modern tent. The last time I remember camping with my family and those of you, it stormed more then before. With 50 or 60 mph winds and hard rain. I remember I put my foot up a half foot off the ground when the tent felt as it was rippling over us and could feel it. Scary. About that time Betty came and told us to get into the camper. So there we were about 10 of us sleeping in the camper. Well ok that was the story, but the point is this. Im glad I have a camper to sleep in and not some bag with sticks. Especially when there is a storm. I do miss the camping strip to Kansas.
Oh the memories!
